“We the People” Exhibition Opening Showcase

Dandelion Art Gallery & Studios invites you to experience “We the People,” an exhibition created to foster belonging, togetherness, and unity within our community.

“We the People” is an exhibition that presents portraiture as a reflection of the diverse individuals who collectively shape the United States. The works highlight people of different genders, colors, cultures, and nationalities—each bringing their own story, identity, and experience to the broader narrative of America. Together, these portraits reveal a nation built from many backgrounds, yet unified by shared hopes, shared spaces, and a shared sense of home. By showcasing this range of identities side by side, the exhibition underscores the idea that American identity is not singular, but a vibrant blend of people living, working, and growing together. “We the People” invites viewers to recognize how diversity enriches our communities and reminds us that unity is rooted in acknowledging and valuing one another.

Featured artist Shawn Killackey, along with the Dandelion Artist Alliance, brings this vision to life through expressive portraiture that encourages reflection, understanding, and connection.

The opening showcase offers a warm and engaging evening for all. Guests can enjoy an Artist Meet & Greet with Shawn Killackey and Alliance artists, accompanied by live music to elevate the gallery atmosphere. A collaborative Community Canvas Activity invites visitors to express their creativity in a shared artwork.

In addition, attendees can participate in a special creative activity: the “American Mosaic Craft.” Inspired by the show’s theme, guests will select small paper tiles—representing different colors, patterns, and cultural motifs—and add them to a large community mosaic titled “Faces of Us.” This evolving piece symbolizes how individual contributions, unique and distinct, come together to form a united whole, mirroring the spirit of the exhibition.

The event also creates space for conversation, reflection, and meaningful community connection, aligning with the exhibition’s purpose of bringing people together.
