TOM PEDERSEN

Tom Pedersen is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Waukegan, Illinois, whose creative practice spans paintings, drawings, and cut-paper compositions. After retiring in 2014, Tom began searching for a dedicated studio space and soon discovered the live-work studios at the historic Karcher building. Moving there reignited his passion for art and marked the beginning of a prolific new chapter.

Working in graphite, acrylic, oil, watercolor, cut paper, and India ink, Tom explores a wide range of subjects and visual themes. Yet he is best known for his train artwork—detailed, atmospheric, and deeply evocative pieces that have become a hallmark of his artistic identity. His trains capture both personal nostalgia and broader Americana, reflecting movement, memory, and the quiet poetry of travel.
