In partnership with Gorton Center, Dandelion Art Gallery & Studios, NFP, Inc. presents a hands-on exploration of Shibori, the traditional Japanese art of resist dyeing, instructed by artist Michael McConville. Participants will discover how fabric can be transformed through folding, binding, wrapping, pattern-making, and dyeing techniques. Through guided demonstrations and creative experimentation, participants will explore how different folds and resist methods interact with dye to produce distinctive patterns, shapes, and variations. After experimenting with different techniques, participants will apply what they have learned to create their own one-of-a-kind Shibori textile piece to take home.
