Fitz uses the traditional medium of oil paints and begins paintings with an underpainting to work out the composition and light and dark values. After the initial design is complete he layers in colors and applies a series of glazes that can range from light washes to thick expressionistic impasto paint. His personal aesthetic is greatly influenced by the midwestern landscape.
